SERVPRO knows how to contain mold spores in Darien

Darien is an idyllic coastal town in Connecticut. The town’s population is 21,000, and it is an exclusive, high-class community that offers all the charm of New England life. There are several exclusive private country clubs and beaches, but many beautiful areas are open to the public.

Settlers first came to Darien in the late seventeenth century. They built a sawmill dam and a shipyard, and for a long time, Darien remained a small rural community built around those industries. The arrival of the railroad in the mid-eighteenth century helped the town to expand. After the Civil War, it became popular with wealthy New Yorkers, who built vacation homes along the waterside, especially in the Tokeneke area.

Darien is situated on the Gold Coast, an affluent area of Connecticut known for its stunning waterfront homes, well-to-do residents, and sophisticated lifestyle. Darien is a familiar sight, featuring in many movies, including Hope Springs, Cannonball Run II, The Stepford Wives, and Gentleman’s Agreement.

Enjoy historic buildings and beautiful parks in Darien

Darien has several historic buildings and plenty of outdoor spaces. While you are here, be sure to see:

  • The Frederick J Smith House is a unique modern home with an open facade and lots of glass to let in light and give residents uninterrupted water views. Renowned avant-garde architect Richard Meier designed and built the house in the mid-sixties.
  • The delightfully named Pond-Weed House dates from 1696. It is a two-and-a-half-story home in the traditional New England Saltbox style and the oldest building in Darien.
  • The Mather Homestead dates from 1778 and is a beautifully preserved example of eighteenth-century architecture. Visitors can walk through rooms that look just as they would have back then, and the Homestead hosts frequent family events.

Darien also has some lovely parks and beaches to explore. Some of the most popular include:

  • Cherry Lawn Park offers miles of pretty walking trails through fields and beside ponds. You can even ice skate here in the winter.
  • Pear Tree Point Beach is fully equipped with concession stands, bathhouses, picnic areas, and a gazebo. The beach has an accessible picnic area. In summer, the beach is for residents only, but you can purchase a visitor’s pass.
  • Selleck’s Woods Nature Preserve is convenient for downtown Darien, but you will feel like you are far from the beaten track as you explore 28.093 acres of marshes, ponds, swamps, and prairie.
  • Weed Beach is well-appointed with tennis courts, a children’s play area, a bathing area, and a fitness trail.

Are you looking for mold removal companies?

If you need mold removal in Darien, it is vital to choose a company that helps contain mold spores. Spores are microscopic and can quickly travel throughout your home to set up new colonies. SERVPRO helps prevent the spread of spores by:

  • Setting up containment using industry-grade plastic sheeting and duct tape.
  • Sealing off vents, doors, and windows to prevent spores from escaping.
  • Using air scrubbers and negative air machines to pull fungal spores from the air.
  • Drying the area, so it is not such a desirable breeding ground.
