SERVPRO Seeks Ways to Prevent and Remove Odors When Delivering Water Removal Services in Darien

Although it is among the smallest towns on Connecticut's coast, Darien has a lot to offer. That it was nicknamed the "centerpiece of Connecticut's Gold Coast" indicates the level of interest people have in its amenities. Many also know it as the waterfront town to enjoy some of the best public beaches within the New York metropolitan area.

Pear Tree Point is the small and arguably the more beautiful of the two beaches in town. It is approximately 8 acres and has several amenities for visitors, including a handicap-accessible picnic section with grills and tables, a bathing area, and a beautiful gazebo. There is a concession stand serving those who need snacks and a boat launch ramp. Weed beach is almost thrice the size of Pear Tree Point, covering 22 acres. However, it is mostly rocky.

Horse Rides and Shows

Darien has a long history as an equestrian community. The Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club anchors this aspect of life in the area. The club established in 1914 stands between Middlesex and Mansfield roads and covers a total of 22 acres. Initially, it was known as the Ox Ridge Hunt Club and hosted a popular horse show in the town for over nine decades. The club served as an important training spot for many equestrian champions. In 2018, the club was remodeled to serve active families.

Away from horse riding, golfing can be another interesting way to spend time in Darien. The Wee Burn Country club, established back in 1896, is a convenient place to tee off. The club was started by George Strath, who hailed from St. Andrews. He leased 48 acres of farmland and set out the initial 6-hole course. Later a further three holes were added. As the membership grew, expansion to an entire 18-hole course was necessary. However, since there was no sufficient room, a neighboring property measuring 230 acres was acquired.

Other interesting areas where you can spend time while in Darien include:

  • Cove Island offers an 83-acre park perfect for walking, biking, and rollerblading
  • Rowayton Arts Center, which exhibits works from local artists. It features artworks and flowers in a superb setting close to the five-mile river
  • Cherry Lawn Park, a community garden and nature center

How Does SERVPRO Manage Odors Caused by Flood Damage in Darien Properties?

Properties can flood for several reasons, including the overflowing of nearby rivers. After extracting the water and cleaning soiled areas, you might notice that unpleasant smells linger within your property after completing flood restoration processes making it uncomfortable for occupants.

The odors that develop after flood damage in Darien homes can be caused by wide-ranging factors, including chemical or biohazard residues in the intruding water, extended moisture exposure, which leads to microbial growth in various materials, or even the chemicals used to clean the property. SERVPRO has developed multiple strategies to deal with odor since we handle multiple tasks regularly, including:

  • Water damage remediation
  • Basement flooding
  • Flood restoration

Our SERVPRO technicians capitalize on preventive approaches such as using odorless cleaning compounds. We also expedite processes like water extraction since we have various equipment, including truck-mounted extractors and self-priming trash pumps. Removing the water faster limits the chances of mold development. In case an unpleasant odor develops, we can deodorize the property through methods such as ULV fogging. ULV fogging atomizes odor counteractants, spreading them to all target areas.
